  • The purpose of Value Investing Online Workshops (VIOW) is to analyze securities as established by Benjamin Graham (1894-1976) in his book, The Intelligent Investor. The approach is based on the fact that, in the medium term, the share price of a particular company is roughly consistent with the intrinsic value of that company. The principle is known as VALUE INVESTING.
  • In the mentioned book, Graham sets up a model for determining the intrinsic value of a company, which depends on its profit potential. When determining these capabilities, a ten-year analysis of the company's operations is used. Business data can be obtained from annual reports or specialized websites. The author calls this the quantitative part of the analysis.
  • The second part of the analysis of the company's internal value takes into account external factors such as interest rates, the tax environment, the development of technology, the company's business model and others. All these Graham calls qualitative analysis. Although the latter is important to him, he repeatedly emphasizes that the quantitative part has more weight in the overall analysis.
  • According to many, Graham was the greatest investment advisor of the 20th century, and undoubtedly the father of "value investing", who inspired people all over the world. Among them is the famous Warren Buffett. The philosophy of value investing protects the investor from significant mistakes, severe stock market losses and gives him psychological stability. A "value investor" is a rational investor who is not interested in stock market prices, except when he finds that the internal value of the company is significantly lower or higher than its stock market value. Then he reacts by buying or selling shares.
  • Our workshops are open to everyone. Stock analysis are carried out at our regular weekly online meetings led by Zlatko Turkovic, translator of The Intelligent Investor into Slovenian language, with more than 30 years of stock market experience.
